4 Tips of choose the perfect floor tiles for your kitchen

The kitchen is the one room in the house that can have several different types of tiles, in different applications, and they all will enhance your kitchen beautifully. When it comes to choosing tiles for your kitchen, it may be hard knowing where to start. We've put together some tips to help you just the right floor tiles for your kitchen.

- Room size
Large tiles can make a room look bigger and reduce the amount of grout joints. A rectangular tile will make the direction that it's laid in look longer, for instance, if you have a low ceiling height you could lay the tiles vertically to make it look higher. Using floor tiles on the walls will make the space look more cohesive and spacious, but you can't use wall tiles on the floor.

- Material
There are quite a few choices when it comes to the material for your kitchen floor tiles, and which suits yours best will depend on how you use your kitchen. For kitchens, this could include: vinyl, porcelain, ceramic, stone and glass. A porcelain tile is easy to clean and maintain, whereas a natural stone tile requires regular sealing to keep it looking its best.

- Colour
Choose a light colour to make your space look more larger and spacious, but be aware that light colours might need cleaning more often. Darker coloured tiles can look striking and modern, and can work well even in small kitchens when used with clever lighting.

- Tile size
Manmade kitchen tiles are available in a large variety of sizes. So if your kitchen is not big then try to choose tiles of a smaller size with good pattern or texture. If your kitchen is spacious then large-sized tiles with symmetry will enhance the look of your kitchen. Large tiles make the kitchen look bigger and airier.
